Named after Cornelius Vermuyden, the Dutch engineer whose seventeenth-century drainage works shaped this corner of Yorkshire, this is a no-frills keg house on Bridge Street right beside Goole Docks. It is very much a locals’ pub — open all day, every day, with the docks on the doorstep and conversation as the main entertainment.
