Out on Barmby Marsh Road in the village of Asselby, a few miles west of Goole, this working nursery grows and sells trees, shrubs and seasonal plants rather than simply reselling trade stock. It opens every day of the week — 9am to 5pm Monday to Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sundays — and visitors are welcome to wander the growing beds before choosing. Advice comes free with the plants: staff will happily talk through what will actually thrive in your soil and spot.
